Rating a device like this is actually a difficult task. This is because the main variable in determining the effectiveness of an IPL tool is the person that it is being used on. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removers work by using an intense pulse of light that also creates a very short pulse of intense heat. This short pulse of intense heat is then carried down the shaft of a dark hair to the root. The heat then damages or kills the root thus inhibiting future hair growth. This is where the variable of the individual the IPL tool is being used on comes in to play. Ideally, a person using an IPL tool will have extremely pale skin with dark hair. The reason for this is that the darker the hair, the more effective it is in transferring the heat to the root. Conversely, the lighter the skin, the less effect the light pulse will have on the individual's skin. It is advised that dark skinned individuals NOT use an IPL as they can experience isolated sunburns. Luckily (in this case), I have pretty pale skin and moderately dark hair. I found that the IPL took worked pretty effectively on my areas that I wanted hair removed.

The build quality of the unit is very good. It has a nice solid feel in the hand and is easy to hold. The unit is also pretty light, which is good as you might be holding it for quite some time depending on the amount of hair you are trying to eliminate. The cord is nice and long so that you have plenty of slack to easily maneuver when trying to reach different areas on your body.

This IPL unit is rated for almost 1,000,000 flashes. I am sure that your mileage may vary. However, the nice thing here is that there is no light head to replace. Some units have a built in counter life to their lighting units. After so many flashes, you have to replace the light head regardless whether the bulb is burned out or not. The instructions tell you to start on the lowest setting and work your way up to a comfortable setting. I strongly advise you follow these instructions. You can easily tell the difference between setting 1 and 2. You do not want to immediately jump to setting 9. If you do, most assuredly you will burn yourself.

The IPL unit cycles pretty quickly between flashes. The longer you use the unit, the longer the time between flashes you will experience. This is because the built in fan is having to bring the temperature inside the unit down before it allows you to initiate another pulse.

Using the unit, I found that it does work pretty well on me. This is something that you will have to continue to use over time to totally eliminate unwanted hair. The frequency between uses will decrease after time, but it is something that you will have to continue to use. Given the cost, effectiveness and the ease of use for this IPL tool, I highly recommend it if you are wanting to remove unwanted hair in the privacy of your home.

This is a decent example of a budget IPL hair removal device. I've tested maybe a dozen of them, and in terms of design and build quality it's about on par with the other models I've used.

That said, this model is missing the cooling feature that's become standard for IPL devices $100 and up. It's not strictly necessary - you can achieve the same result by extending the period of time between flashes to allow the lamp to cool - but if you want to get the job done in just a few minutes a cooling feature is essential.

All in all this is OK. With a cooling feature I may have given it five stars.

I had high hopes for this device...until the power cord caught on fire! As soon as I plugged it in, it began to crackle. Sparks and smoke began to escape from circuit box of the power cord. Not good at all.

This was my first experience with a laser hair remover. It’s easy to use you just plug it in and let it warm up, it has a manual mode or an 8 count automatic mode.
It says it takes 6-8 weeks of use to see full results. There are 9 settings and I started on the lowest setting. On a 1 it barely stings, on a 2 it was a noticeable increase. That’s as high as I’ve gone, I used it once a week for about 8 weeks now. I noticed on the first few weeks my armpit hair was coming back slower than usual and that’s using it on its lowest settings.
I like that it came with a razor, glasses and a record card.
Overall easy to use and I’ve seen results even on the lowest setting.

If you are dark skinned (brown and black) this product won't work. If the hair you want removed is light blonde, red and white, this product won't work. These restrictions would be fine if you are advised of this on the product page before ordering, but they are not; you only learn of these restrictions on the enclosed instruction card. Other restrictions: don't use if you have tattoos, sunburn, stain & nevus skin, are pregnant. If you meet the suggested parameters, this product may be worth trying, as the construction of the laser device is well made, and enclosed instructions are detailed and clear. One more point about the instructions: again, assuming you meet the product's parameters this device is not a quick fix for hair removal. Instructions say it takes 8 weeks of continuous use, two to three times a week. In other words, if you are not patient and don't want to follow detailed, precise instructions, this might not be the best device for you.

Review for: IPL Hair Removal, Laser Permanent Hair Removal for Women and Men, 999900 Flashes UPGRADED At-Home Hair Removal Device for Facial Legs Arms Whole Body Treatment

I check out a LOT of these. They're pretty standardized so pick by features and price.

      Pros
=gun-shaped which is easier to hold than the cylinder-shaped ones.
=1M flashes, when in previous years they'd give you 500k
=Great wattage on the gun, 46w. vs the 36w ones
=safety glasses and razor are better than most

      Standard
      =maual and auto mode

      Cons
=no cooling tech which you can get for sub $100 price
      =no filters

      Red Light Therapy General Information
I've been checking out red light therapy on lots of different devices. For the effectiveness of Red Light Therapy (which seems like a gimmick initially), you should consult external sources. Additionally, it's very difficult to measure the effectiveness of one compared to another one.

Make sure you use safety sun glasses as these could cause damage close up to your eyes, I’ve read. Keep them away from your eyes.

After using red light therapy for a month+ I’ve seen some improvements to my own wrist pain or arm pain.

I've found Red Light Therapy available in big square light racks that can be propped up, hung vertically, or above you (but wouldn't trust that). I've seen them in lamp form with floor lamps but they get REALLY hot or new LED versions. The belt form has been my favorite form so far.

To see results, make sure you're using your device the minimum recommended 3-5 times per week. Sessions should generally be between 10-20 minutes long. While the more frequent the sessions the better (every day is ideal). Unlike many other health treatments, red light therapy is safe to use every day, is non-invasive, and has virtually zero risks and side effects.

I used it 3 times a week for 2 weeks and could notice how hairs grew slower than usual. Try it on your self and be consistent to check if this works for you! I liked that it has an automatic setting where it shoots the laser without having to click the trigger so many times!

I used this for three months, every 2 days for the first 6 weeks, every 4 days after that. I have fair skin and medium brown hair where I was trying to remove it. After a lot of use, it did seem that the hair was growing slower, but since I stopped, it seems to be growing as fast as ever (maybe faster). I do not believe the cheap sunglasses provided with it provide adequate protection to the eyes, so I always closed my eyes when I trigger it.

Great product for a low price. No longer need to go to expensive salons for hair removal treatments.

I obtained this device thinking that I could use it for my skin complexion because on the product purchase page there was no indication that it wasn't OK for my complexion. Inside the product box is a sheet like the the graph on the product page and it indicates that darker skin complexions may not use the device, perhaps for safety reasons or capabilities of working. It is wise to pay attention to what hair colors may use this product. Inside the product box it indicates the hair colors that may use this device. There were no reviews up when I 1st got this product so, all I had to go off of was whatever the seller had posted. This device comes with a charger, disposable razor, and stylish sunglasses.
